Questions

Answers

How do I start?
Just phone the barn or email Ruthanna and set up a first lesson.
Where is Bridges Equestrian?
Follow this link to directions to Sycamore Trails Stables and Bridges Equestrian.
What do I wear?
Long pants and a hard shoe with a heel. We really don't like tennis shoes, and thick soles are a definite no-no. Boots are best. We will supply the helmet for the first month or so, but if you are going to continue, it is a good idea that you invest in your own helmet. Bicycle helmets are not permitted.
How much does it cost?
When do I pay?
Your first lessons are paid either individually, or for a set of 4. This allows you to "try us out." After that four, the remainder of the month will be pro—rated. Training is due before the first, in advance.
Can I pay with a credit card?
Yes, however we prefer cash and check.
Who will my instructor be?
Bridges Equestrian uses a combination of Trainers, Instructors and Assistant Instructors to assure each and every student gets the attention they deserve.
Will I always have the same horse?
Probably not, we have a great team of equine-instructors and we would like you to learn what each of them has to offer. Click here to see our curriculum and here to see our training philosophy.
When can I take lessons?
We try to offer lessons at times when everyone can participate. Please see our lesson schedule and call for availability.
What if I have to miss a lesson?
Please see our cancellation policy .
What can I expect to learn?
See our curriculum page for a basic overview. We teach both English and Western styles of riding.
How long will it take for me to learn?
Riding is a wonderful sport in that you will constantly be challenged. A basic command of a horse can be obtained in a few months, however some people spend their whole lives studying this sport and improving.
Can I get good enough to compete?
Absolutely, and in much less time than you might think! We have in house shows for most every level rider, once you have the basics down. With a bit more experience, you can compete with the renowned Bridges Equestrian Equestrian Show Team.
What if I decide I want to own a horse?
We hope you do! If you fall in love with the sport, we've done our job well. We will help you find that perfect team-mate. Most of our students who own their own horses were matched up by our Bridges Equestrian Equine Match-Makers.
Do you rent horses?
No, but we offer lessons, leases and sales.
Can I bring my children, neighbors and pets to the stables?
Yes, children must be supervised.  Only students are allowed to handle the horses or be in the grooming area.
Sorry, NO pets (including dogs) are allowed.
